Victorian Trade Card - Wood Tag Plug Tobacco - Ashbrook & Turnipseed, Augusta, Ohio

This is an original Victorian trade card for H.A.H. & Co. Garden City Wood Tag Plug Tobacco of Chicago, compliments of Ashbrook & Turnipseed dry goods dealers of Augusta, Ohio. It features a child with a ruffled top and a jaunty feathered hat, plus the advertisements for the tobacco. On the lower edge it is marked "Gies & Co. Buffalo NY". 

The back advertises the tobacco with specific notes of "Chew Fruit Cake Wood Tag Plug Tobacco" and "Smoke Hersey's Fine Navy Smoking Tobacco". The advertisement for Ashbrook & Turnipseed of Augusta, Ohio notes that they are dealers in "Dry Goods, Staple & Fancy Groceries, Hats, Caps, Boots, Shoes, Queensware, Clothing, Women's Fine Shoes and Fine Dress Goode [sic.] a Specialty. General Depot for Butter and Eggs."

It measures 3 x 5 inches and is in good condition. The front colors are still fairly bright though a little washed out with age. The back is clean and crisp. Slight wear at corners.
