Carle Blenner portrait of a woman, ca. 1900
This is a lovely oil on canvas portrait of the type for which Blenner was well known. He painted society women's portraits from his New York studio. He was in high demand as a portraitist, with subjects including actress Evelyn Nesbitt and Ladies Hamilton and Chetwynde.
It measures 22x27 inches, unframed. The painting has a vertical indentation to the left of the subject's head which appears to be an older repair; there are several small indentations which have also been repaired on the back of the canvas. Please see additional pictures below.
